Darren Bent Doubts Viktor Gyokeres’ Readiness for Arsenal Move

Arsenal’s pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has raised eyebrows, and former Ipswich Town striker Darren Bent is not convinced about the move. According to Bent, Gyokeres’ impressive form in the Champions League and Primeira Liga is not enough to warrant a move to one of the biggest clubs in the world. The 26-year-old has scored 24 goals and provided four assists in 19 games across competitions this season, including five goals in four Champions League matches.

However, Bent believes that Gyokeres needs to sustain his form for at least another year before making a move to a club like Arsenal. Gyokeres is currently contracted to Sporting until 2028, and his impressive form has attracted attention from several top clubs in Europe, including Manchester City and Leipzig, among others.

Gyokeres’ Portuguese record is indeed outstanding, with 16 goals and an assist in 11 Primeira Liga matches this season. He has also impressed in the Champions League, scoring three times in the 4-1 win over Manchester City. The Hungarian forward’s ability to score goals consistently is undeniable, but Bent believes that he needs to prove himself in the Premier League before making a move to a top-tier club.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s side is currently fourth in the Premier League after 11 games, and they will be looking to continue their push for the title when they take on West Ham United on November 30. Prior to that, they face Sporting CP away in the Champions League on November 26. The Gunners have ended a three-game winless run with their 3-0 home win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and they will be looking to build on that momentum in their upcoming matches.

According to Bent, the Gunners need to be cautious about signing players like Gyokeres, who are yet to prove themselves in the Premier League. He believes that Arsenal should focus on developing their own young players and not rely too heavily on imports. While Gyokeres’ form is undeniable, Bent is skeptical about his ability to adapt to the Premier League and make an immediate impact at a club like Arsenal.

While Gyokeres is an outstanding striker with a promising career ahead of him, Bent believes that he needs to sustain his form for at least another year before making a move to a top-tier club like Arsenal. For now, the Gunners will have to focus on their current squad and develop their young players rather than relying on imports.
