In a highly anticipated Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United, expectations were high for Liverpool to extend their lead at the top of the table. However, the match ended in a 2-2 draw, with United putting up a resilient performance and even coming close to securing a win. Despite the result, Liverpool remains six points clear of Arsenal, still holding a game in hand. For United, the draw sees them move up to 13th in the league, offering a chance to build momentum, especially with an FA Cup match against Arsenal next.

The match was marked by notable individual performances from both teams, starting with Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana, who earned a rating of 7 for his excellent save to deny Alexis Mac Allister early on. However, he was powerless to stop both of Liverpool’s goals. In defense, Matthijs de Ligt had a mixed performance, rated at 5, as he was caught out by Cody Gakpo for Liverpool’s first goal and conceded a penalty for handball leading to Mohamed Salah’s score. His defensive partner, Harry Maguire, stood out with a rating of 7, offering solid defense but is likely to be remembered for missing a crucial open goal late in the game. Lisandro Martinez, also with a rating of 7, scored United’s first goal and performed well in defense.

In midfield, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte, and Kobbie Mainoo all received ratings of 7 for their efforts. Mazraoui, a right-back by trade, excelled in both defense and attack, while Ugarte was instrumental in controlling the midfield. Mainoo partnered well with Ugarte, winning possession and making key passes. On the left, Diogo Dalot caused problems for Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, also earning a 7.

Up front, Amad Diallo delivered when it mattered most, scoring the equalizer and earning an 8 for his contributions. Bruno Fernandes also earned a rating of 8, providing the key pass to Martinez for United’s opening goal. Rasmus Hojlund, despite a solid performance, was disappointed with a missed first-half opportunity and was rated 5.

The draw was a crucial point for United, while Liverpool, despite the disappointment, remains in control at the top of the Premier League.
