Noussair Mazraoui has been named Manchester United’s Player of the Month for November, marking his first win of the accolade. The Moroccan international secured 55% of the fan vote, surpassing fellow nominees Amad Diallo, who received 23%, and goalkeeper Andre Onana, who garnered 21%. Mazraoui’s standout performances in November were pivotal to United’s unbeaten record during the month, which was maintained under both interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy and new head coach Ruben Amorim.
The 27-year-old’s versatility was on full display as he started all five matches for United in November, playing in three different positions. He was particularly impressive in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, where he played at left-back and earned praise for his contribution to the match. Mazraoui then shifted back to his natural right-back role for the Europa League win over PAOK, before once again filling in at left-back for Van Nistelrooy’s final game in charge. In that match, Mazraoui provided the cross for an own goal that helped secure a 3-0 victory over Leicester City.
Under Amorim’s new 3-4-3 formation, Mazraoui has adapted seamlessly to a right-sided center-back role, where he has excelled. His performance against Ipswich Town was commanding, and he delighted United supporters with a stunning assist for Rasmus Højlund’s equalizer in the Europa League match against Bodo/Glimt. Mazraoui continued his fine form into December, turning in another solid display during the weekend’s clash with Everton.
Although an Erik ten Hag signing, Mazraoui has flourished under Amorim, who has repeatedly praised his ability and work ethic. Amorim has described Mazraoui as “the future of our team” and emphasized that United “needs more players” with his attitude and versatility. Mazraoui also got a measure of revenge on Amad Diallo, having been pipped to the August Player of the Month award, for which he was also shortlisted.
